LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kentucky Cannabis Company, the original CBD company of Kentucky and the parent company of Bluegrass Hemp Oil, is excited to announce that the 902 KAR 45_190 CBD labeling regulation was filed last week with the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Department for Public Health. The regulation, which started as HB 593 last session, focuses on all CBD companies following label laws, and also allows for businesses to add CBD to food products and retail as well as at the restaurant/bar level. This regulation will benefit the hemp industry as a whole and would protect consumers and give them confidence in purchasing.
This important regulation came to be after KCC tested numerous CBD oils from other companies finding contents and contaminates that were inconsistent with labeling and a quality product. The regulation would require labeling on CBD products that would provide the consumer with important information regarding the contents of such products. Additionally, it would require labels include the manufacturer and distributor along with suggested use instructions.
“Inconsistency in labeling has been something that we’ve fought since our inception in 2014. As parents who entered the CBD industry to create a safe, consistent product for our son, truth in labeling is very important to us. CBD can be life-changing for some but when consumers get their hands on a product where the company is being dishonest about what is in it – whether it be potency or purity – it’s detrimental to the industry as a whole. Transparency is key for consumers when choosing the best product for them,” said Adriane Polyniak, Executive Director and owner of Kentucky Cannabis Company.
There will be a public hearing on Monday, December 21st at 9am at the Health Services Building in Frankfort (First Floor Suites A and B, 275 East Main Street). Citizens interested in attending must notify this agency within five workdays prior to the hearing. If they can’t attend but want their voices heard, they can submit written comments to:
